ABOUT LAME DUDES

Lame Dudes is an Icelandic blues band that has been a fixture of the Reykjavík music scene since 2007. Led by singer-songwriter and guitarist Hannes Birgir Hjálmarsson, the band plays a free-flowing blend of blues, blues-rock, and country, often featuring original lyrics in Icelandic — a distinctive choice that gives their music a character all its own. The band's sound draws inspiration from blues masters alongside the laid-back grooves of J.J. Cale and Eric Clapton. Their discography includes the studio albums "Hversdagsbláminn" (featuring Icelandic-language originals) and "Einfaldir vafningar" (2023, Alda Music, 12 tracks), the English-language EP "Reykjavík Boogie" (featuring "I Found Love," "Funky Fiffi," and "Mojo Oil"), and the live album "Shades of 'Live' Blues" (2019), which captures the band's energy on stage with a mix of originals and covers of Robert Johnson, Johnny Cash, J.J. Cale, and Jimi Hendrix. The lineup has evolved over the years around Hjálmarsson's core vision, with contributors including guitarists Gauti Stefánsson and Snorri Björn Arnarson, bassist Jakob Viðar Guðmundsson, bassist Kolbeinn Reginsson, and others. The band also organizes the Jukejoint Festival, further cementing their role in promoting blues culture in Iceland.
