ABOUT JAKOB VIÐAR GUÐMUNDSSON
Jakob Viðar Guðmundsson is an Icelandic bassist and guitarist who has been a cornerstone of the Reykjavík blues scene since the late 2000s. Best known as a long-standing member of the blues band Lame Dudes, Guðmundsson has also performed as a solo troubadour and with the CC Fleet Blues Band at events including the Reykjavík Blues Festival at Harpa.
Guðmundsson joined Lame Dudes around 2007–2009, primarily serving as the band's bassist alongside frontman Hannes Birgir Hjálmarsson. Over the years, he has been a constant presence through the band's various lineup changes, contributing to albums including "Hversdagsbláminn" and "Einfaldir vafningar" (2023). In more recent performances, he has also taken on guitar duties, showcasing his versatility as a multi-instrumentalist.
Beyond Lame Dudes, Guðmundsson is active in the broader Icelandic music community, performing at venues across Reykjavík and participating in events organized by the Reykjavík Blues Society (Blúsfélag Reykjavíkur). His steady, groove-oriented playing style anchors the bands he performs with, providing the rhythmic foundation that allows the blues to breathe.
