Born into a classical music family in Orkanger, just south of Trondheim, Heidi Kvalholm Blåsmo’s musical journey is a story of geographic and stylistic evolution. Before becoming a central figure in the Notodden blues scene, Heidi spent two decades in Bjerkvik, Narvik, where she established herself as a powerhouse big band vocalist. This diverse background—stretching from the classical traditions of her youth to the grand arrangements of the North—has created an artist “colored by all the music of Norway.”
In 2015, Heidi made a defining move to Notodden, drawn by the magnetic pull of the blues. Since then, she has become a vital part of Scandinavia’s most blues-rich environment. A vocalist, songwriter, and choral conductor, Heidi has built a career that spans blues-rock, soul, gospel, country, and pop, always anchored by what audiences and critics consistently describe as a “magical voice” and a reputation for singing with her whole soul.
Heidi first came to national attention through her participation in The Voice Norge (2012), where she performed on Team Magne and showcased the kind of raw, expressive power that would define her career. That same year, she gathered five highly skilled and experienced musicians to form Reloaded Norway—a blues-rock band built around her original songwriting and her ability to turn a lyric into a lived experience.
The band quickly made their mark. Their albums “I’m Freakin’ Reloaded” and “My Longest Mile” earned significant international airplay, with the single “Saturday Night Diva” reaching #1 on the Roots Music Report Blues-Rock Charts in both October 2018 and January 2019. Critics have frequently compared her vocal prowess to legends like Beth Hart and Tina Turner, with the Indie Voice Blog noting: “The vocals are second to none and reminiscent of the powerful chops of artists like Beth Hart and Tina Turner.”
The band’s live reputation grew to match their recorded output, leading them to win the Norwegian Blues Challenge for three consecutive years (2019, 2020, and 2021), earning a prestigious place at the European Blues Challenge in Malmö, Sweden, in 2022. They have since performed at the Notodden Blues Festival and at clubs and festivals across Norway and Europe.
Beyond Reloaded Norway, Heidi is a deeply versatile artist. She has shared stages with a wide range of Norwegian icons, including Øyvind Blunck, Guri Schanke, Madrugada, Lisa Stokke, and Jørn Hoel. She also brings her passion for music to the next generation as an active choral conductor, leading both a mixed choir and a school choir.
Her motto remains the driving force behind her journey: “Nothing is impossible when it comes to music.”
