Arne Skage & the Procrastinators – Stord Jazzklubb
“Norwegian blues veteran brings his Bayou Fonk to Stord”
Arne Skage & the Procrastinators bring their blend of blues, roots, and New Orleans-flavored "Bayou Fonk" to Stord Jazzklubb.
Arne Skage (born 1964, Flekkefjord) is a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer — a veteran of over 30 years in the Norwegian blues and roots scene. Known for his distinctive slide guitar, he served as the right-hand man to blues pianist Reidar Larsen for three decades and gained prominence in the 1990s with the band Eriksen. His slide guitar playing appears on nearly 300 Gramo-registered recordings.
Skage launched his solo career in 2021 with Procrastination Blues, followed by Rootwork in 2024 — an album rooted in New Orleans influences featuring American and Norwegian musicians. His latest single, "One Brick at the Time" (2025), features Jørn Hoel and Steinar Albrigtsen.
His current project Arne Skage's Bayou Fonk fuses New Orleans funk, Louisiana R&B, swamp blues, soul, and traditional blues — drawing on the legacies of Allen Toussaint, Earl King, Little Feat, and Taj Mahal.
The Procrastinators feature a lineup of experienced Norwegian musicians including Stein Inge Brækhus (drums), Øyvind Grong (bass/tuba), Dr. Bekken (piano/accordion), and Sven Eivind Stakkeland (Hammond B3).
As a producer, Skage has earned critical acclaim for projects including the Spellemann-nominated Who I Am (2015) by Joe Rusi and the Spellemann-winning Barefoot Among Scarecrows (2020) by Daniel Eriksen.
