The Devil and the Almighty Blues
“Heavy without becoming metal. Slow without being doom. Just blues — turned up to eleven.”
ABOUT THE DEVIL AND THE ALMIGHTY BLUES
The Devil and the Almighty Blues formed in Oslo in 2010, building their sound on the transition of blues-based rock during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Their influences span Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac, Muddy Waters' Electric Mud, ZZ Top, Jimi Hendrix, Free, and Canned Heat.
Playing vintage Gibson guitars through tube amplifiers, they craft a sound that is "heavy without becoming metal" and "slow without being doom" — a raw, melodic, blues-drenched wall of sound that has earned them a devoted following across Europe.
Their self-titled debut arrived in 2015 on Blues For The Red Sun, followed by II (2017) and Tre (2019). In April 2026, the band signed a worldwide deal with California's Ripple Music and began releasing new singles, with a full-length album scheduled for spring 2027.
The current lineup features Arnt Andersen (vocals), Petter Svee (guitars), Torgeir Waldemar Engen (guitars), Markus Berntzen (guitars), Kim Skaug (bass), and Kenneth Simonsen (drums).
