Jenny Blue & The Tombstone Shadows

From Brantevik to Katowice

Jenny Blue & The Tombstone Shadows won the Swedish Blues Challenge on 8 November 2025, taking the final at Orangeriet in Borås against Billy Momo, Ninna and the Bad Blues Band and Still Warm Bluesband.

The band is based in Malmö and the Skåne region, and grew out of Brantevik on the east coast. Jenny Blue Jonasson sings, Tor Andersson plays electric guitar, Paul Hinz electric bass, Pontus Ottenfelt drums and Magnus Nörrenberg electric organ. That organ is central to the sound — it gives the band a warmth and a swell that a second guitar would not.

The jury's words

The jury, drawn from Sweden's blues associations, praised them for high class, dynamic, nuanced and soulful blues. The win carried the right to represent Sweden at the European Blues Challenge in Katowice, Poland, held from 16 to 18 April 2026.

A working band

They play the Swedish circuit steadily, with festival and club appearances across Skåne and beyond, and have become one of the names the Swedish blues scene now points to when asked what is happening.
