“British-born bassist who bridged the UK and Norwegian blues scenes”
ABOUT TONY CADDLE
Tony Caddle is a British-born, Norway-based bassist whose career spans decades and two thriving blues scenes. A versatile low-end specialist with deep roots in traditional and modern blues, Caddle has played alongside some of the genre's most respected names on both sides of the North Sea.
Caddle's musical journey began in the UK, where he cut his teeth in a scene rich with blues talent. His credits from the British years read like a who's who of the circuit: he performed with Mike Hoddinott and the Blues All-Stars, American touring artists Sherman Robertson and Jay Owens, and acclaimed British guitarist Innes Sibun. These collaborations gave Caddle a deep grounding in the feel and vocabulary of authentic blues bass playing — the kind of education that only comes from sharing a stage with masters of the form.
After relocating to Norway, Caddle quickly became embedded in the Scandinavian blues community. He joined Spoonful of Blues, the acclaimed band fronted by guitarist and vocalist Jostein Forsberg, contributing his solid, groove-heavy bass lines to one of Norway's most celebrated blues acts. The partnership with Forsberg placed Caddle at the heart of the Norwegian blues establishment.
Caddle also served as bassist for Reloaded Norway, the three-time Norwegian Blues Challenge winners. His time with the band added another dimension to his already impressive CV, connecting him with the competitive side of the Nordic blues scene and taking him to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.
With a playing style that prioritises groove, tone, and taste, Tony Caddle remains an active and valued member of the Norwegian blues community — a musician whose transatlantic experience gives him a perspective and depth that few bassists in Scandinavia can match.
