Mike Andersen

Mike Andersen has spent nearly three decades building a sound that sits where blues and soul meet, and Denmark has rewarded him for it five times over at the Danish Music Awards.

Born Mikkel Dybdal Andersen in Rødekro on 25 February 1977, he started guitar at twelve and worked through B.B. King, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker before widening out to Marvin Gaye and Al Green. He moved to Aarhus at sixteen, met the blues guitarist Otis Grand at twenty — an encounter he credits with pushing him to lead his own band — and formed the Mike Andersen Band at twenty-two.

From Echoes onward

His recording career began with My Love for the Blues in 2002. The 2010 album Echoes was the breakthrough, named Album of the Week by DR P4 and widely praised at home. He has toured more than twenty countries and supported B.B. King on three occasions. The solo acoustic album One Million Miles reached number one on the Danish Vinyl Top-20 in 2019, and All Out Of Love in 2025 was his tenth studio album.

Awards

He won the blues song category at the Independent Music Awards in 2005 for "Stuck With Me", Best Blues Album at the Danish Music Awards in 2015 for Home, and the DMA Live Award in 2019 for his solo tour. In 2022 he took two prizes at DMA Blues, Danish Blues Release of the Year for Raise Your Hand and the Blues Live Award.
