About Krummi

Krummi Björgvinsson is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and radio host from Iceland, with a career that has continuously pushed against genre boundaries. He first came to international attention as the lead vocalist of Mínus, the Icelandic post-hardcore/alternative rock band formed in Reykjavík in 1998.

Under Krummi’s leadership, Mínus achieved massive critical and commercial success. In 2003, the band won the Icelandic Music Awards (Íslensku tónlistarverðlaunin) for Album of the Year for their landmark release, Halldór Laxness. Their impact led to major international record deals, first with Victory Records and later with Sony Music and One Little Independent. With Mínus, Krummi toured widely across Europe and beyond, sharing stages with legendary acts such as Metallica, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Muse, and Biffy Clyro, including a performance on the Leeds Festival main stage.

Away from Mínus, Krummi has built a diverse and highly acclaimed body of work:

  • Solo Artist: Krummi’s transition to a solo career was marked by an immediate and historic impact. His debut solo single, “Stories to Tell,” went straight to #1 on Icelandic National Radio (Rás 2) and held the top spot for five consecutive weeks—solidifying his place as a premier solo force. He has followed this success with further #1 hits like “Bona Fide” and “Frozen Teardrops,” and his vocal prowess has earned him two nominations for Vocalist of the Year at the Hlustendaverðlaunin (The Listeners’ Awards).
  • Solo Artist: He writes deeply personal, invigorating songs that blend dark lyricism with strong melodic sensibility. His singles “Bona Fide” and “Frozen Teardrops” both reached #1 on Rás 2, and his vocal prowess has earned him two nominations for Vocalist of the Year at the Hlustendaverðlaunin (The Listeners’ Awards).
  • Experimental & Collaborative Projects: He continues to explore the underground through projects like mínusiceland, Húsdreki, and Sin Alma (Sinalmanoise). Recently, he released the cassette “Second Offering” under the name Sin Alma, a collaboration with Jóhann Eiríksson of the industrial group Reptilicus.
  • Media & Radio: As a popular radio host on @ruvras2, Krummi connects Icelandic audiences with new and underground music, drawing on his deep knowledge of the global scene.

Outside of his musical output, Krummi has appeared in Icelandic media speaking candidly about creativity and society. He has also contributed artwork to international initiatives such as 21st Century Leaders / Whatever It Takes, alongside global cultural figures.

Today, Krummi continues to release new music and collaborate widely. His work represents a visceral, melodic Northern voice that is unafraid to evolve—from the heights of the Icelandic Music Awards to the raw, experimental edges of the global underground.

“The green eyed impassioned singer/songwriter Krummi … composes invigorating concoction of country, folk, rock n roll and blues… sincere and heartfelt songbook for you to feel all the way to the bone.”
