There is something truly magical about the blues in the North. As the Icelandic spring begins to stir, the Reykjavík Blues Festival transforms the Hilton Nordica into a sanctuary of rhythm, soul, and raw emotion. This isn’t just a series of concerts; it’s a homecoming for a community that understands that the blues isn’t about sadness—it’s about the triumph of the human spirit.
A Bridge Between Worlds
This year’s festival is a breathtaking bridge between the deep roots of Chicago and the ethereal landscapes of Iceland. From the legendary Sheryl Youngblood Band bringing authentic Windy City heat to the stage, to the heartfelt Tribute to Magnús Eiríksson, you will witness a rare dialogue between international masters and the finest musicians Iceland has to offer. Whether it’s the haunting melodies of Lay Low or the sophisticated swing of the Sigurður Flosason & Andrea Gylfa Quartet, every note is a testament to the universal language of the blues.
More Than a Concert—A Community
The magic of the Reykjavík Blues Festival lies in its intimacy. After the main stage lights dim, the legendary Blúshátíð Club comes alive. This is where the barriers between artist and audience disappear, where the air is thick with improvisation, and where the “after-hours” spirit of the blues truly takes flight. It’s a place to share a drink, meet fellow travelers, and feel the pulse of a city that knows how to celebrate.

The details
Blúshátíð í Reykjavík 2026 returns to Hilton Reykjavík Nordica on 1–2 April 2026, bringing two nights of live blues and roots music to Reykjavík during Holy Week. The festival combines a formal concert program with the relaxed late-night atmosphere of the Blúshátíð Club, where guests can continue enjoying live music after the main stage program ends.
Doors open at 19:00 and the festival begins at 20:00 on both nights. The event has no age limit, making it open to all guests. Ticket prices listed by the organizer range from ISK 7,900 to ISK 12,900.
Festival guests can also enhance the experience by booking a festival dinner at VOX Restaurant before the concerts. A special festival menu and reserved seating in the concert hall are offered. For out-of-town visitors or anyone wanting to stay overnight, the organizers have also provided a dedicated hotel booking link for Hilton Reykjavík Nordica, with a recommendation to book early due to limited availability.
